L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara / First Impression

The new L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara has been so prevalent and talked about in the beauty world recently. A lot of people seem to love it and compare it to the adored Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. I bought mine at Target and decided to see what the hype was all about…

I got this baby for $8.99 and it comes with .28 ounces of product. Since this was compared to the Better than Sex mascara so much, I will be doing price and quality comparisons to see if this really is a dupe. The Too Faced mascara is $23 for 0.27 ounces of product. So the L’Oreal one is significantly cheaper, less than half the price actually! Packaging is so similar, it’s ridiculous. I actually don’t have my Too Faced mascara anymore so I am using an image from the Sephora web site. As you can see, literally the same sleek, pink metallic packaging. Even the bristles are extremely similar-thick and hour-glassed shaped. (the pic I took of the Lash Paradise brush was not at a good angle so you can’t see the shape very well lol).

L’Oreal Lash Paradise:

-intense/voluptuous volume and length

Too Faced Better than Sex:

-intense, defined, lengthening lashes.

-smudge-proof, all day wear

Too Faced Better than Sex

The last time I used this mascara was last year but I remember exactly what I liked and didn’t like about this mascara. I liked how it lengthened my lashes (spidery effect), how it lasted all day and didn’t smudge, and how it lifted my otherwise flat lashes. What I didn’t like was the bristle-I recall it being very thick and because I start extremely close to the base of my lashes, I was always afraid of poking myself. Personally, the Better than Sex was more of a lengthening mascara which it primarily does advertise for. I also recall how good the wear was. Something to mention, this one is NOT waterproof but they do have a waterproof version of this one.

L’Oreal Lash Paradise

For my lashes, this is also more of a lengthening rather than a volumizing mascara. This one does advertise for voluminous lashes and I think it does but my Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara does a better job of giving me the illusion of thicker, fuller lashes; this one gives more of a spidery, lengthening effect (just like the Better than Sex). You can definitely see a difference with the photos-my lashes are quite stubborn and like to lay flat most of the time. The application was nice but, like the Too Faced one, wasn’t a big fan of the brush end but that’s more of a personal thing. I did wear this one all day and it didn’t smudge at all and since it’s waterproof, it’s good for all occasions!

Final Thoughts

I think the L’Oreal Lash Paradise is a solid dupe for the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. It’s significantly cheaper, pretty much does the same thing, and it’s waterproof. I only wore the Lash Paradise for one day but based off my first impression, they are very similar. The packaging and brushes are spot on (which I thought was a little much haha) and formulas are very similar. Without comparing the Lash Paradise to any mascara, I would say it’s a very good lengthening mascara. I mean, look at the photos haha. The only thing I would change would be the bristles but they might be the reason why they stretch my lashes so much so meh. Haha. I hope ya’ll enjoyed this first impression/comparison of the new L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara. Comment below if you like this new mascara or not!

ABH Modern Renaissance Palette Review

I received an early birthday gift from my boyfriend and it was something that I wanted ever since it came out. First of all, can we all just look at these shades. Look. at. these. shades. I have heard some people who didn’t like all the berry tones but I’ve done so many looks with it already. You can do anything from a dark smokey eye to a fun, colorful look. So many pros to this gorgeous palette so let’s get to it!

1 Pigmentation/Formula

The formula of these shades are out of this world. Smooth, buttery, blendable, and very pigmented. I literally have to hover my eyeshadow brush over the pan and brush ever so lightly or else I will get a shit load of pigment. The shadows blend so effortlessly and the colors complement each other in so many ways.IMG_2930_Fotor.jpgIMG_2932_Fotor.jpg

2 Packaging

The packaging is simple and pretty. Love the mirror size and how light the palette is. The pink, velvety outside is a cute touch to it as well.

3 Price

This palette is $42 and comes with 14, .02 oz shades. .02 oz sounds really little but you’re getting 14 amazing colors. For how good the quality of the shades are I think this is a really decent price for this palette. Their pigmentation also plays a huge role as you do not need much product at all for application. The Urban Decay naked palette’s are around $54 each and although each shade has a larger pan, there are two fewer shades. I also think that the quality of the shades in the Modern Renaissance is better than the Naked Palette ones. (**Sidenote: I am only comparing the Modern Renaissance to the Naked palettes because those are the only palettes I own haha** )

4 Wear

Like I mentioned above, these shades can give you a variety of looks. They are also long-lasting and do not crease on my lids. Granted I do wear shadow primer, but hot dang these shadows just stick to you lids all day long. I’m in love.

5 Colors

Wowzies. That’s all I have to say. The shades are beautiful (as you can tell below) and work/blend together seamlessly. I was a little scared of how many berry tones there were but after using it multiple times, I was able to create so many looks with it. This is a great year-round palette; lovely red shades for the fall, bright looks for the summer, smokey eyes for winter, and colorful lids for the spring. JUST PERFECTION.

1 Fallout

The ONLY LITTLE CON that I could honestly think of was the amount of fallout. These shadows have a quite a bit of it but it honestly doesn’t bother me at all. Some people are quite picky about this which is why I wanted to mention it. Even though I just graze my brush lightly on top of the pan, there is still a lot of loose pigment that gathers on top.

As you can tell,  I am obsessed with this palette and it is my favorite one in my little collection so far. If there is one palette that you want to purchase (especially if you are a little new to the makeup world), I would highly recommend this. It’s great for people who are just beginning because you get all these shades in one palette and they are so easy to work with. You can even use some of the lighter/shimmery shades as highlights as well. The Modern Renaissance will most definitely be lovingly used (and abused) by me haha.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation | Review

heya friends!

I will be doing another in-depth review about a product that I have loved, adored, and worshiped for years now. The Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation was my first high end foundation that I have ever purchased. I did an extensive amount of research before buying this product because I wanted to make sure this thing was perfect, especially since it has a hefty price tag with it. This is for anyone who is considering purchasing a high end foundation and want something amaazzzinggg!

Price and ContainerIMG_2764_Fotor.jpgThe foundation is $38 for a 1 fl. oz. frosted glass container. I wish it came with a pump but it’s simply a twist off cap. It can get messy when trying to pour it onto the back of your hand or brush but I’ve heard that you can find a pump that is the correct size and slip it on. This foundation comes in 38 shades so there is a shade for everyone haha. I am in 1W2 Sand.

What it Claims to Do

  • 15-hour wear
  • Natural finish
  • Lightweight, oil-free, and buildable formula
  • Heat, humidity resistance

What it Actually Does

  • I’ve only worn it for 12-13 hours tops and it stays put perfectly.
  • No cake finish; very natural looking on the skin.
  • It is lightweight for a high coverage foundation and super buildable.
  • I wore this when I was hiking for hours in Portland and it looked exactly the same after.

ApplicationIMG_2767_Fotor.jpgIMG_2768_Fotor_Fotor_Collage_Fotor.jpgIt blends like a dream. I like using it best with my Real Techniques buffing brush or even with clean fingers. The consistency is quite watery. It is a high coverage foundation; usually one application smooths and conceals my whole face. I don’t think I ever go back with concealer to make sure spots are covered since the foundation does all the work. The again, I don’t suffer from crazy hyper pigmentation or rosacea, etc…But look at how even my skin looks above! Before, I have some acne scars and discoloration. After applying I have flawless, even, smooth skin!! Yas.

WearIMG_2763_Fotor.jpgThis foundation is a long wear foundation. It can last all day in rain or shine. I used to work at a very busy medical clinic where I was moving around constantly, sweating, and stressing out. I would get ready at 6:30am and wear it until close to 6 to 7pm so that’s almost 12 to 13 hours wear. Hot damn! It would still be on my face and be able to maintain a pretty matte complexion. I’m sure it can go up to the claimed 15 hours but I’ve never had to wear makeup that long.

Overall, this has been and still is one of my favorite foundations. It is so compatible with my oily/combo skin. The Double Wear has been highly praised in the makeup world by many huge beauty gurus so it really is worth the money. A little goes a long way. The tub I have now has lasted me for soooo long and I’m finally starting to run out…time to get another one 🙂 Hope this was helpful ❤

First Impression: Urban Decay Weightless Concealer

heyaaaaaa friends!

On my recent mini Sephora/Target haul post, I wrote that I purchased the Urban Decay Weightless Concealer. I knowwww I am late to the game (I always am). I tend to use products until I literally have no more and I was using the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer before this one. I just bought the Urban Decay concealer not so long ago but I have tried it  three times already and I wanted to do a first impression post for any of ya’ll who are thinking of getting this concealer as well. Hopefully this will be helpful!IMG_2470_Fotor.jpgIMG_2472_Fotor.jpg

What it Claims to be: High Coverage | Buildable | Weightless | Luminous | Demi-Matte | Invisible

Coverage | It is a medium coverage concealer for me. Like it claims, this concealer is buildable. As you can see, it does a pretty good job at concealing my acne scars on my cheeks with only one layer. I could add a second layer for higher coverage but I didn’t think I needed it. Sometimes, less is more 🙂 IMG_2488_Fotor_Collage_Fotor.jpg

Application | Extremely easy to blend! It just melts into your skin and that is a big pro for me because that means it takes less time to get ready haha.

Weightless | Yes, it is very light on the skin. For every day I used it, I wore it for at least 8 hours and it never felt like I was wearing a concealer. It really does just feel like a second skin.IMG_2478_Fotor_Collage_Fotor.jpg

Luminosity | Umm, this one is kind of a yes. I mean I don’t think I look luminous when I have this concealer on. It does brighten up the under eye area obviously but for me, in particular, I don’t find it illuminating.

Demi-Matte | This one is a yes! And thank the Lord because I now seem to have oily/dry combo skin so it’s really great to use on my oily t-zone but it also doesn’t dry up around my nose and chin area. I did seem to get a littttleee dry underneath the creases of my under eye but I didn’t wear any primer because I wanted to see how well this worked without it.

Price | This concealer is $28; reasonable for an Urban Decay product. I think it’s a good price for the quality as well.

Compared to NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer | So far, I think I like this one better. Another great thing is the applicator: it’s this flexible, flat soft sponge so it picks up a lot of product from the tube but it gives you a lot control when applying. I like this one better because it’s not drying, it’s completely weightless, and melts into my skin. The NARS one is excellent but it sunk into the lines underneath my eyes almost every day (even with a good primer/moisturizer). I think it’s just my skin but  I definitely prefer the Urban Decay one as of now.IMG_2475_Fotor.jpg

Summary | So far, loving the product! The best thing about it is that it really is weightless and conceals nicely. If you are looking for a new high-end concealer, try this one!

I hope you found this post helpful! If anyone has been using this products, I would love to know what you think about it. See you next time, friends. Byeeeeeeeeee!
