aug ’17 / favs

hey friends! I have a small but amazing roundup of monthly favorites that I wanted to share for ya’ll. I’ve been using all of these products CONSTANTLY this month and I don’t see myself slowing down haha. Hope ya enjoy ❤

Tarte Blush in Paaarty

I got this cute sample size Tarte blush from my August Ipsy glam bag and it is AMAZING. I am definitely not a blush type of gal but this shade is a lovely, subtle peach that gives you a natural flush. I’ve been using this every time I put makeup on this month and I love the finish and how long it lasts on my face!

Backpack from Target

I got this cutie from Target and I’m actually surprised by how sturdy the backpack is. It’s a simple black, pleather, drawstring backpack that has a lot of room and two front zip-up side pockets that are handy for my iPhone and wallet. I love the size of this backpack and how feasible it is to use.

NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder

An oldie but a goodie. This might possibly be better than my coveted Rimmel Stay Matte powder. I forgot about this face powder and decided to repurchase it. Best decision of my life. I love baking my under eyes and forehead with this-it leaves a very smooth, matte finish that lasts for a good number of hours. Such an amazing product for under $5!

This was my birthday present to myself and it is literally my baby. I do everything on it-social media, gaming, drawing/sketching, tv-watching, etc…It is capable of doing much more than what I use it for but I purchased it mainly for me to digitally doodle or draw. This particular one is the generation 5 regular iPad with retina display so watching Youtube and movies is soo nice!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray

I mentioned this product in a previous post where I talked about some new products I was trying and this facial spray became one of my most-used skincare items this month! I spritz it on at least twice a day, morning and night. It’s refreshing, hydrating, and my skin drinks up the herbs and rosewater that is infused into this face mist. You can also use it all over the body and even in your hair! Some people use this as a makeup setting spray but I prefer to spritz on bare skin, before makeup and right before I moisturize in the evening. This is only around $7 I believe so an amazing deal!

I hope you enjoyed my August favs, friends. If we share some favorites, please tell me below! xx

life of a recluse. // thoughts

I’ve been told that I’m outgoing, easy to talk to, and seem very sociable. These are all true but also false. I use all of my mental energy when I first meet a person-I am totally present and I am the best version of me. Unfortunately, this is me around 10% of the time. In reality, I’m a recluse. I like staying at home and I can go without seeing anyone for an oddly long amount of time. Of course I get lonely (who doesn’t?) and that’s usually when I dip my toes into the social world and confide in the few but understanding friends that I have. The only person I see daily is my boyfriend, who I live with. And even he knows that I need personal space quite a bit.

I see people go out with their friends multiple times a week and to that I think: how exhausting? I don’t know about you but my mental juices run out and I feel drained after being around people (even those I love) for too long. I’ve always worried about it and so have my parents. Even in high school, I would rarely go to sleepovers or the movies with the rest of the girls. I preferred to be at home, with my books. Or with a pen and paper. I think I’m getting better. Not that being a socially inactive person is a disease or anything. I just think I’m opening myself up a little bit more. I say yes to more things and try to rub off that mentally drained feeling I’m so accustomed to. Maybe it’s an excuse for laziness? Not sure.

But if I’m perfectly happy and content with how I am, why do I always get the feeling that I need to be more out there? Whenever I see people I know experiencing all these new things with all these other humans, I can’t help but feel like I should be doing the same. Sometimes I exert too much energy around people-I try too hard to please them and be the best friend they can have during that time, and then I’m left with wanting a good nap and some solitude. Maybe I should learn to chill. Not be so tense around even the closest friends I have, not be so careful with what I say so I don’t offend anyone since I’m afraid of judgement. Now I’m starting to think about my confidence. Yikes.

Meh. I’m turning 26 this weekend and will be spending it solely with my boyfriend and myself. I’ll officially be in my late-20’s I suppose. Woop!

If you read all of this, damn, good for you. x

august ’17 / goals

July is well over and it’s time to set up some new goals for this month!

vegan diet

yep I’m doing this again for the second time. A big influence for me was watching “What the Health” on Netflix. I highly suggest this documentary, vegan or not-it’s an eye-opening film that basically tells you everything you don’t want to hear about what we are eating. It was a significant reminder for me and definitely gave me the push to try the vegan diet again. The main reason why I was unsuccessful the first time was because I was actually gaining quite a bit of weight-I’ve definitely figured out why this time around and plan on taking the healthy vegan route this time!

I invested in some nice hiking shoes and I am determined to make use of them this month! We are already planning on doing a few hikes for this month so I’m pretty excited. Since I despise exercising, I thought a great way for me to get some good cardio is by hiking: beautiful scenery and good company all in one. And by hiking, I mean legitimate hikes. I used to think hiking was just walking along a dirt trail but my friends and I have some intense hikes planned this month-wish me luck!

planning our birthday trip

Every year, Sean and I plan a joint birthday trip and this  year we are FINALLY visiting Seattle, Washington. We will be going towards the end of September so this month will be dedicated to fully booking everything and planning the whole trip. If ya know me, I love to plan things (maybe a little too much) and can’t wait to share my trip with you guys!

a smoothie a day

This goes with my vegan diet goal as well but the best way for me to get greens into my body is through a smoothie or juice. Honestly, I just don’t like kale. Haha. I think it’s only edible when it’s cooked a certain way and at this point, I have not figured out how to make it myself enough to enjoy it. Adding greens to my fruit smoothies is really the only way I can eat them raw so a smoothie a day will ensure that I am getting those healthy bits into my body.

For people who actually follow my blog and read my posts, I go through phases where I go silent for a few weeks and then come back. It’s something I am currently trying to work on and I find it difficult to balance my work, personal, and extracurricular life with blogging. I want to be consistent. This month is dedicated to my blog. I want to post at least twice a week-which is doable for me as I used to post 3-4 times a week for quite some time. I would appreciate any tips from fellow bloggers on how to keep up with timely posts. I sometimes get into a creative rut or I simply don’t make the time out of the day to take pictures, edit, or write.

trying new things

I think this was in my last month’s goal post but it’s something that I think I will be working on for a looong time. I am a person of routine and familiarity. I don’t do well with spontaneous activities and tend to get anxious and panicky if things don’t go to plan. It sucks. But it’s something I want to gradually get better at. I am proud to say that last month, I did so many things out of my comfort zone: I took a kickboxing class, I hiked for 4+ hours in an insect-infested, rocky off-trail, and I managed to make new friends. I hope to continue this in August (my birthday month!).

Do you have any goals this month?

july ’17 / favs

Another month has flown by and I have another compilation of stuff that I have been loving this month. Hope you find something new or see something familiar!

French Lavender Body Butter

I have an obsession with lavender! I think ever since I tried Salt & Straw’s Lavender Honey ice cream, I have been associating the scent to how mouth-watering the flavor is. I got this lovely body butter from World Market a month ago and it’s the ONLY thing I have been slathering on my body. It’s a very thick and moisturizing body lotion that essentially just keeps your skin happy. I love using it after a good body scrub because it replenishes the skin immediately. Have to admit, the scent was what really sold me on this product-it’s just so heavenly! Will be repurchasing for as long as I am in this lavender phase haha.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

Definitely my holy grail mascara for the month! Instead of the usual eyeliner look that I go for, I have been relying on this guy to make my eyes pop for this summer so far. I absolutely love how this not only lengthens, but also gives volume to my little lashes. It’s a solid mascara that does the job and keeps my lashes perky throughout the whole day-especially in this SoCal heat.

Theses babies have been locked to my feet so much this month that I have a freaking tan line right at my ankle ha. These are the “Old Skool” and is literally everywhere right now. I got mine from Broadway Shoes for around $60. I originally bought these for Coachella back in April but I didn’t start wearing them religiously until this month. They are solid, comfortable shoes that look good with any outfit-with shorts, skirts, leggings, jeans, even dresses. Some things just never go out of style.

Home-made Lavender Bar Soap

Another Lavender product-what a surprise. My mom actually made and gave me this and I think I am now converting from a body wash user, to a bar soap user. I somehow feel a lot cleaner when using this bar soap-the ingredients are very basic and simple whereas body washes mostly contain fillers and things I can’t pronounce lol. Bar soaps are also cheaper and they last longer for me.

It Cosmetics CC+ Cream

I actually did a comprehensive review on this hyped-up product over here if you would like to peruse! Basically, it is the BEST foundation alternative for the summer. SPF 50, great coverage, buildable, easy-to-apply, and amazing packaging. Absolutely recommend this beauty to everyone-so worth the hype! I will be using this throughout the summer and so on.

Aaand that’s the round-up for this month-hope you found some new or old goodies here, friends.

stuff that didn’t work for me.

hey! I have a small cluster of products that I have had for over a month now and still can’t seem to enjoy using them. Some of these, I have tried multiple times to see if maybe my opinion would change but unfortunately these just didn’t cut it. We all have different skin types and preferences but I thought it would be informative and interesting to share my not-so-pleased thoughts on these products.

1. Alba Botanica Hawaiian Oil Free Moisterizer

This one came as a surprise as I have used Alba Botanica’s face washes and hair products in the past and have loved them all. Sadly, this moisturizer breaks me out. At first, I thought I was just hormonal because I was using it around my period. But then I tried reusing it on a normal day and like clockwork, I sprouted angry pimples across my face. But since I was such an avid Alba Botanica consumer, I tried using it for the THIRD time just to make sure and again, I broke out. Besides the pimple-breakouts, I thought of it as a solid day or night moisturizer- it’s very light, dries quickly, and leaves your skin hydrated and fresh.

2. NYX Liquid Suede

Man I really wanted to like this product since I absolutely adoree almost all of NYX lip products. I don’t know if it was just me but this did not give me a suede finish. It was heavy and kind of sticky on my lips? DEF not suede haha. I couldn’t even purse my lips together without the product sticking to each other. I was disappointed because I was very excited when I saw this Target but I guess it was just not meant to be.

3. Colourpop Cosmetics Blush

Another surprising one for me…I LOVE almost all of Colourpop’s products: their lip products, highlighters, and eyebrow pencils are bomb but their blushes are ehhhh. Yes, they are cheap at $8 a pop but I personally like my Wet n’ Wild Color Icon blushes much more and they are around $4-$5. My Colourpop blush dried down completely in a month and I was very meticulous with closing the pot tightly after the few uses I got out of it. Other than the drying out part, I thought the blush itself was okay. Not something I would repurchase as there are cheaper, better alternatives at the drugstore that won’t dry out.

4. NYX Eye Primer Pot

I was skeptical with this one from the beginning and I also have tried this product out a handful of times to give it a fair shot. It just doesn’t work for my eyelids. I prefer my Urban Decay Primer Potion of the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I felt like it sat on my lids but didn’t really do anything-I didn’t see a difference in the wear of my eyeshadows and it definitely did not enhance any colors. Usually when I use the UD Primer Potion, my eyeliner goes on smoothly and extremely pigmented than usual. But the NYX primer didn’t do anything.

5. Burt’s Bees Brightening Daily Facial Cleanser

Another company that I usually am pleased with but this face wash literally does nothing for me. I feel like it just sits on top of my skin and I don’t feel my face getting any cleaner..Haha. I thought it was because it was a non-foaming face wash but I have tried Alba Botanica’s and Yes to Carrots non-foaming face washes and they are splendid! I don’t hate this product since it did not break me out or anything but for around $9-$10, it’s not worth it for my skin. I also did not see any brightening effects (I  managed to used the whole bottle too!) nor did it do a good job of removing my makeup.

Has anyone used any of these products but did enjoy them? I am curious to see what other people think, especially with the Colourpop blushes. Hope this post was informative/interesting!

July ’17 / monthly goals

Hi everyone! Today, I wanted to start a series on my blog where I list out my monthly goals and what I plan to accomplish for that month. It can range from skincare/makeup, to diets, to socializing, to my career, etc…I thought this was a great way to get a little more personal with my blog-I primarily focus on beauty and food here so it would be interesting to post some more lifestyle content. I also think this is a great way to keep me in check in the beginning of each month. It would also be beneficial and interesting to look back on these posts in the future. I hope this gives other people some inspo and motivation for a fresh new month!

taking a kickboxing class

Okay, this one is something I actually already accomplished for this month. It is almost the end of the first week so I am a lil late but better late than never right?  I have been wanting to take a kickboxing class for some time but never had the guts. My friend and I went for it and I enjoyed it the workout so much! Being barefoot on the mats, not so much…lol. I am quite germaphobic so I was really aware of how many other feet have been on the mats and if they were cleaned properly hahaha. I also had to use loaner gloves so yeah. Other than that, it was a killer workout that turned my body into jello the next morning. Will def have to try another one this month!

apple cider vinegar shots

I used to take these almost daily last year and stopped doing it because I got incredibly lazy. Apple cider vinegar has so many benefits-the most important for me is the digestive aspect. I would take a shot of ACV, lemon juice, some water to dilute, and cayenne pepper every morning to get my digestive system started. This month, I WILL start doing this daily!

saying yes

I am a classic extroverted introvert. I seem like a social butterfly to everyone I first meet, but I’m actually a homebody who usually needs a lot of time to myself. So much to the point that I tend to say no to a lot of friend or family hangouts. This month, I want to say yes more. I want to say yes to beach hangouts, concerts, barbecues, and brunches. I don’t want to miss out on making memories with the people I care about. I will still make time for myself (obv) but will be saying yes to more things this month and the future.

pudge hello.jpg

What the heck is Pudge?! I actually have a very new Instagram that I post daily doodles on. Pudge is a character I made up years ago and I always loved to draw quirky sketches and comics of it-after finally getting a Wacom tablet, I decided to make an Instagram dedicated to them! I started posting daily this month and will be continuing. I do hope to grow and have my little creation reach out to a bigger audience. I love sharing my little drawings! If you want to check it out, you can find it on : @ellopudge.

no chips

If you know me, ya know that I loveeeeeee chips. I have a habit of snacking on some sort of chips after lunch and I really need to stop. It doesn’t help that my work has access to a plethora of chips so the temptation is very real everyday. BUT, I am determined to not have any through the entirety of this month. I haven’t for the first week which is already amazing. I might even see if I can last longer than this month but we will see…baby steps haha.

quality time with bf

This month is also dedicated to learning how to spend quality time with my boyfriend, Sean. We both have daytime jobs and the during the evenings we are usually doing our own things. Sean is a grad student so he studies all the time and I am usually blogging, taking pics, or drawing. We really want to make time for each other where we are not on our phones and instead, enjoying each other’s company! This is also a longer term goal as well obviously but this month is when I realized we need to start working on it.

cleaning my makeup brushes

We all do it. We all put off cleaning our makeup brushes until they get grimy enough to give them a good washing. This month, I plan to clean my brushes every two or three uses. Since I don’t wear makeup every day to work, this should be feasible for me. Yet I still put it off! I have to admit, sometimes dirty brushes seem to be the source of some of my acne. I know people who clean their brushes after every use-maybe I’ll try that next month but again, baby steps here haha.

Do you have any July goals?

IT Cosmetics CC Cream / In-Depth Review

Woo wee I finally got my greedy hands on this highly reviewed and adored by everyone product: the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream. I was so excited when I got it from Ulta that I immediately slathered it all over my face so I can see what all the hype was about. Let’s just say I found my new go-to face product for this summer!

I got mine from Ulta for $38 and it comes with 1.08 oz of product. I LOVE the packaging. It comes with a pump so it’s very sanitary and it’s attached to a squeeze tube. It’s very reliable, easy-to-use, and clean. I feel like I could easily travel with this.

  • gives full coverage
  • brightening and color-correcting
  • anti-aging benefits
  • SPF 50+ (woot!)
  • hydrating and moisturizing
  • gives a “your skin but better” effect

Coverage depends on what you are applying with. I like using a dense, flat-top brush to buff the product in. I get better coverage using a brush than with a damp sponge. It also depends on how damp the sponge is. The wetter (that’s what she said) the sponge, the more it’s going to absorb. I would say the coverage is a medium with my brush. You can layer another coat to make it a more full coverage but I like the medium coverage it gives me. Like it advertises, this is a “your skin but better” CC cream so I don’t think it’s supposed to give you a cake-faced coverage look. The finish is beautifully natural-it almost gave a blurred effect to my face.

Brightening and Color Correcting

YES for the brightening. It makes dull skin look more radiant and healthy. Especially during hot summer days, I do not want to be layering multiple products on my face so the fact that this CC cream can give this to you in one product is amazing and a time-saver! Color-correcting wise, I think it does do the job with the dark circles under my eyes but it’s not the same as using a high coverage concealer. Again, this is a CC cream so I didn’t expect it to completely cover all my dark spot. I’m not sure about redness as I don’t have much of that on my skin. From other reviews, it seems to cover redness nicely.

Anti-Aging and SPF 50+

It’s far too early for me to see any anti-aging benefits but I am DIGGING the the SPF 50+. I keep repeating this, but this was seriously made for summer weather. I was a little worried that the high SPF would irritate my eyes as they do tend to get very agitated if I get even a little SPF in them but I was dandy even when buffing the product over the lids and eye area. Again, another quality that makes this CC cream an all in one product.

This was another aspect I was worried about. I have very oily skin so BB and CC creams are not my favorite as they leave me more greasy/oily than dewy lol. I also tend to break out more. When I first applied this CC cream, it was dewy so I got anxious that I wouldn’t like it. I did apply some mattifying powder and I was surprised that within 15-20 minutes, I felt like I didn’t have anything on my face. If this was any other CC cream, I would start getting oily again. So it seems as if it actually dried nicely on my skin and complemented the powder I was using (Rimmel Stay Matte Powder). I wore it all day in mid-80 degree weather and I got a little shiny but it was still very comfortable on the skin. So good for a CC cream with a high SPF! Another thing to note: it does not crease into fine lines and wrinkles- at least for me it doesn’t. I have pretty prominent smile lines and almost every foundation, concealer, cream, etc… sinks into them (gotta step up my anti-aging game) but this one didn’t. Woop! Overall, people with dry skin will loveee this and people with oily skin will just need to use a good powder to finish off.

Your Skin But Better

I totally agree with the name of this product. It feels light, great coverage, protects the skin, moisturizes, and basically enhances your skin. I believe I spent my ~$40 on a goodie and will be using this for quite some time. I am so happy that I finally got this product after having my eye on it for months. I can see it becoming an everyday staple for me! Have you tried this CC cream? What did you think?

a short stay in Echo Park, LA

I had a three day weekend so Sean and I decided to go for a quick and sweet getaway to our neighboring city, LA. In particular, the Echo Park region of Los Angeles. We Airbnb’d a gorgeous, minimalist space that was walking distance to solid coffee, amazing food, and Echo/Elysian Park. We only had a little over 24 hours but we made the most out of it-enjoy the pics friends.

Before we actually dived into Echo Park, we stopped by Smorgasburg-an open-air foodie market heaven located in Prospect Park. It was our first time and for anyone planning on going to this, go hungry! Parking and entrance is completely free (woop woop) and the venue is basically the parking lot of a chain of produce markets.

The unique thing about Smorgasburg is the vendors. All foods are from local vendors-everything from live uni, to Filipino desserts, to savory fusion tacos. A dreamland for people who love good food! Unfortunately, Sean and I had a hefty breakfast so we didn’t get to try much. We loved Shrimp Daddy (Hawaiian-styled shrimp, macaroni salad, and rice). AMAZING and so flavorful. This was the busiest stand out of all of them.

We also grabbed a refreshing hibiscus and oolong tea drink from PopdUp-they specialize in mixing flavored soda with tea. They also come in these adorable glass jars, very Instagram worthy.IMG_3224_Fotor.jpg

The venue also has a small strip in the middle where vendors were selling everything from homemade candles, vintage clothing, to crafty jewelry. Such a great way to spend a Sunday morning/afternoon in LA. We will be visiting again soon!

Art District / Salt & Straw

We still had some time to kill before check-in so we stopped by our favorite region of LA-the Art District. I wrote a post about this district quite some time ago if ya want to check it out! We were feeling peckish so we stopped by Salt & Straw and got the infamous Honey Lavender ice cream. If you can, please please try this-I was tempted to buy a pint and carry it around with me all day lol.

I was starting to get hungry again so we decided to get a bite at Cafe Gratitude-a very hyped up vegan restaurant that I have been dying to try. First off, the place is so beautiful-everything is clean, modern, and spacious. Such a relaxing and inviting place to eat. Sean and I shared just the nachos and boy was it freaking scrumptious. It certainly did NOT taste vegan. Any vegetarians/vegans who haven’t tried this place really is missing out!

Echo Park / AirBnB

The AirBnB that we stayed at for the night was simply gorgeous. Aesthetically pleasing and a genius use of space-the hosts had renovated their back house to a comfortable one-level studio-type home. We were originally going to stay at a hotel but there is nothing more intimate and immersive than staying in the neighborhood that you are visiting. Our hosts were the best- I really wanted to stay for at least another day!

Echo Park was just a short walk (less than a mile) from our little abode and what an interesting park it is. There was a real sense of community there-vendors selling piping hot food, kids playing in the grass, and cute ducklings swimming about. Really loved the laid-back atmosphere.

Late lunch was a cute vegan restaurant called Sage. Very eclectic and designed beautifully inside. The menu is delicious and all plant-based. We shared a Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich that was super yummy.

The highlight of the night was having some wine and cheese at The Semi-Tropic. No pictures for this place as it was too dark but pics won’t do it justice anyway. This place is randomly located next to a KFC and someone’s house-it was pretty funny trying to find this place but so worth it. We got the cheese & charcuterie plate that included brie, truffle, prosciutto, and some nuts/apricots. WOW. Hands down best cheese plate I’ve had. By the way, I am lactose intolerant so I suffered greatly after. HA. Will do it again in a heartbeat.

We then walked along Sunset Boulevard to browse through various bookstores, bars, and stumbled upon the Echoplex that happened to be in the middle of a stand-up comedy act. The Echoplex is an intimate venue that usually houses concerts for independent artists-unfortunately no one we knew was playing that night but we definitely enjoyed the last half of the act. This is definitely a place to go dancing/clubbing/chilling if you are ever in the area. Really cool vibes and loved the ambience.

After the wine and cheese, we were both completely shattered so we spent the rest of the evening relaxing in our cozy home and really soaking in the possibility of having our own place soon.

Last, but certainly not least was what we had for breakfast the next day. We longingly said goodbye to our little home and our hosts and drove off to Winsome. Echo Park has a handful of renown breakfast/brunch places and Winsome seemed to a very popular one. The location was tricky to find since it was nestled next to a neighborhood and an apartment complex, but the food and coffee was so good.

I had the avocado toast (THE BEST I have ever had) and Sean had a classic egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich (very delish). Again, the decor was on point-a trend that I have noticed during our stay at Echo Park. I even loved the look of the menu!

After, we stopped by the Santa Monica pier to really savor the last few hours we had before going back to the OC. As you can tell, this trip focused mostly on food haha! Echo Park is a very hipster, eclectic, vibrant place to visit. I loved how we found the most amazing food in the most random, unforeseen areas. I will be back in the future, there is so much more to see! I do hope you enjoyed this lengthy post of me rambling on and on about how pudgy I got from all the eating I did.

Etude House: Brow Tint Review

I have no eyebrows. So I either have full drawn-in brows or none at all and it is time-consuming and just annoying to have to draw them in every single morning. Monday-Friday I am brow-less but it would be nice  to have a little bit of filling so there is some shape to them. I was seeing this brow tint from Etude House floating in the beauty world and decided to purchase it on Amazon and try it out!IMG_3180_Fotor.jpg

What exactly does it do?

It is a brow. tint. Haha. So it essentially tints the bare areas on on your eyebrow so it gives the illusion of being fuller without having to actually pencil them in. It reminds me of henna, but for the brows.

Does it work?

Yes! It actually does. It also depends on how long you leave the tint on your eyebrows. The packaging suggests for it to be on the brows for at least 2 hours but I sleep with mine over night. It ALSO depends on what you use to cleanse your face with. They suggest not using any cleansers or anything abrasive on the brows for the first 24 hours so the tint can really sink in I guess. On my first try, I accidentally used an oil-based makeup remover all over my face and over my brows and that took off 80% of it.

I purchased mine on Amazon for around $7 for 0.5 fl oz. It is not a lot of product but I consider it a decent price for something that you only use once or twice a week. One of the most talked about aspect about this product is the consistency. It is a very thick, viscous liquid that you spread onto your brows. It takes a minute to understand how to work with it but it’s extremely manageable, especially because if you make a mistake, you can simply wipe off with a tissue or Q-tip. No biggie.

How long does it last?

Again, it depends. If you are constantly rubbing your eyebrows and using makeup remover or a strong facial cleanser on them, it’s going to wear off faster. I’ve heard the average person usually can keep the stain for about a week. I plan on doing mine every Sunday evening so I have fresh ones for work. The first few days are great-I barely fill them in and if I do, it takes half the time I usually spend. As it fades, I fill them in more but it still does not take nearly as much time to draw them in from scratch.

Can it pull your hairs off?

For me, no. Unfortunately, I did read some reviews about people hairs coming off when removing the tint. I found this really odd because after sleeping with the tint overnight, mine peeled off very gently from my skin. The directions on the packaging specifically say to peel GENTLY from the inner brow to the outer brow. You do not just rip it off like a band-aid.

What shade should I get?

They have a variety of shades on the Etude House website but I purchased #3 Grey Brown- I believe this is the darkest tint they have. Don’t be surprised if the color of the tint is almost black. You’re eyebrows WILL NOT be that dark. Remember, it is only a tint so it is just staining you’re brows.

Is it worth it? Will I keep using it?

Yes and Yes! This is a product that people should at least try if they suffer from naked/sparse brows. It really is a time-saver and it’s also kind of fun to put on. For just $7 a pop, it’s something worth trying!

If you have tried any other brow tints, please let me know! I would love to test out other brands that carry brow tints.

What’s in my Makeup Bag?

heya friends!

Today, I wanted to show you all the essential makeup items that I carry in my purse on the weekends when I am out and about the whole day with a full face of makeup. Rare, but it does happen lol. I carry very little in this cute baggie because 1. I don’t like carrying too much stuff. 2. I’m lazy. 3. The most important thing for me is to avoid crazy oily/shininess so all I really need is a matte powder and brush.

First of all, this bag is something that was gifted to me by a dear friend who visited Montana. Super random haha but I really like the colors and the size of it so I use it for makeup bits.

The Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder is a staple product. I swear by it! It’s affordable, keeps me matte for hours, and just an easy product to apply all over the face.IMG_2891_Fotor.jpg

My brows are wild so I like to keep the Gimme Brow by Benefit so I can do a quick touch up whenever I need to. It’s also tiny so that’s convenient!

The Maybelline Age-Rewind Concealer is a great product when you need to touch up on some spots that are starting to peek through as the day progresses. I like this one because it’s easy to use and simply does the job.

Last but not least, I always carry around the lip color that I will be wearing for the day. Lately, I have been reaching for the Revlon Lipstick in Rum Raisin. Applies like butter, hydrating, and this color is so pretty!

As you can see, I am an advocate for simplicity and definitely prefer a minimal amount of stuff in my purse. Luckily, all these products are super convenient and help me stay fresh for the whole day!
