Laneige BB Cushion Review

heya friends!

Today, I will be doing an in-depth review on the Laneige BB Cushion foundation. I have been using this for over a year now and  even though my first impression of it was not so positive, I have grown to love it. It is now my most used, every-day foundation.IMG_2732_Fotor.jpg

Where to purchase/price?

Target has a little section with all Laneige products which is AWESOME because before that, you could only purchase Laneige products online or in Asian beauty stores. They are not the cheapest products, but they are worth the money in my opinion. From Target, the BB Cushion is $34 and comes with a cushion refill and an extra sponge which is basically two cushions in one. That’s marvelous haha.

Color Range

Most BB Cushions don’t have a big variety of color options because they are like BB creams so they are essentially tinted moisturizers. I got the color Medium. The colors they provide are Fair, Light, Light Medium, Medium, Medium Dark, and Dark.IMG_2736_Fotor.jpg

What it Claims to Do

It claims to moisturize, protect the skin from the sun (SPF 50), has anti-aging properties, brighten skin, prevent shine, and give a long-lasting light to medium coverage.

What it Really Does

This BB Cushion is heavenly for people with dry skin. It does moisturize very well and gives off a dewy, healthy finish to the skin. I actually have dry/oily combination skin and it still works great for me. I just powder over areas where I do get oily and it never breaks me out. When I first purchased this, I had super oily skin and it just did not work for me. I would become so oily within a few hours and I just felt so uncomfortable and dirty. Coverage wise, it is for sure a light to medium coverage. It is buildable but to an extent. Like I said above, this is my every day foundation when I’m out running errands and stuff. It’s perfect to wear on good-skin days. For me, it is not long-lasting. This is good for a solid 3-4 hours but after, it just wears off on my skin. I don’t really mind this because I know which foundations to use when I’m going to have a long day out.IMG_2729_Fotor_Collage_Fotor.jpg

The sponge that it comes with is very helpful. You simply dab the sponge into the product and press into the skin gently. I never wipe it on my face, I like to dab because I feel like it gives the most coverage. It melts into the skin instantly and smooths out the complexion quite nicely. It is probably best to switch sponges regularly as it gets unsanitary. Luckily, it comes with an extra set of the cushion so yay! IMG_2737_Fotor.jpg

All in all, I do love this BB Cushion. I need to try the new Lumi Cushion by L’oreal because I heard it’s actually better than this one and cheaper. I’m thinking of purchasing it soon so I can write a review and compare it to the Laneige one. I think the reason why this one is a bit pricey is because of it’s anti-aging properties. Laneige is mostly a skin-care brand so their BB Cushion does have numerous advantageous properties. Once again, good for good-skin, low-key days and gives a dewy, fresh finish. It is best for dry to combo skin. People with very oily skin should reconsider this one since the finish is so moisturizing.

I hope this in-depth review was helpful for any of ya’ll who are thinking of getting into the Cushion fad. If you already do have this, feel free to comment/like below! I would love to hear people’s opinions on this one.

Skincare Favorites | Origins, Kiehl’s, etc…

heya friends!!

Today, I wanted to share some of my skincare favorites that I have been using for quite some time. Most of them are masks because they are one of my favorite products to use. Maybe we share some favorites? xx

OriginsIMG_2668_Fotor_Collage_Fotor.jpgThe infamous Origins Charcoal Mask ($26). This baby is so popular/talked about/hyped up in the beauty world. And it really is a great product. I’ve been using it for almost a year now and it’s one of my favorite charcoal masks. There are many reasons why it’s so great: it’s deep pore penetrating capability, the cool black color, how clean/smooth your face feels, etc…

IMG_2666_Fotor_Collage_Fotor.jpgAnother very popular/talked about product! This Creamy Eye Treatment ($29) is exactly what it claims to be: moisturizing, light, and very gentle. I love the soft fragrance and how it sits underneath my eyes. A great treatment for your eyes before bed time, indeed!

IMG_2662_Fotor_Collage_Fotor.jpgI didn’t hear about this product until I actually was suggested it from a person who works at Kiehl’s. This Pore Cleansing Masque ($26) is a phenomenal mask to help minimize pores and soften skin. It contains Amazonian White Clay that naturally acts as a magnet for dirty, clogged pores. My boyfriend is obsessed with this one haha.

The Laneige Water Sleeping Mask ($24) is an interesting, unique mask. It’s a very light, dewy, gel-like substance that smells heavenly. You basically apply a thin layer before sleeping and essentially sleep with it on. The next morning, you can just rinse it off and your skin feels super moisturized, supple, and refreshed. I use this once a week!

The Face Shop

This Rice Water Massage Cream ($17) is another special product that I discovered. If you like products that help brighten the appearance of your skin, this is for you! It’s a gentle, luxurious cream that you massage into clean, dry skin. After, you can either lightly rinse or simply wipe off with a soft towel. It melts into a lovely oil so it’s definitely something you pamper with. I do this once every week or so. It also has that signature spa scent that is just so heavenly!

These are the skincare items that I have been using the most lately and I swear by them! If you haven’t tried any of these, please do and if you have, feel free to like/comment ❤

February 2016 Favs!

heya friends!

I am back again for my monthly favorites. Like last month, my favs will include not just makeup/beauty/skincare stuff, but also random life things like food (the biggest love of my life), books, Netflix shows, etc…Favorites, commence!

1 | Revlon Lip Butter: Tutti Frutti

This is an oldie, but a goodie. I remember when the Revlon lip butters first came out and every makeup-lover was pouncing on them. I have two tubes of this specific color because I love it so much. It’s not too bright on the lips and I like how it makes me look instantly more youthful and awake. Plus, it smells yummy!

2 | NYX Lip Liner: Mahogany

I have always loved NYX lip products and I have been so into this shade. It really is a nice mahogany color; beautiful on the lips, glides like a dream, and has pretty good wear. They are also super affordable at $3.50 each! For sure a win!

3 | Medjool Dates

Random, I know, but I can’t believe I haven’t had dates until this year haha! I buy the Trader Joe’s Medjool Dates and they are the perfect, sweet snack. Especially if you are craving caramel or candy, this is a great alternative. Natural sugars, super sweet, and has a tacky consistency that matches sweets. You can also use dates to sweeten smoothies and to bake!

4 | iZombie on Netflix

I didn’t think I would like this show but I was bored and decided to try it. It’s actually super entertaining and funny! Quick description: a girl transforms into a zombie and uses her powers to work with a crime investigator. I like how it’s a combination of romance, comedy, and suspense. Definitely a show to watch!

5 | Laneige Water Sleeping Mask

I’ve had this baby for some time but I have really been noticing its effects on my skin. My face looks more supple, hydrated, and brighter after every use. You apply a thin layer before you sleep and basically sleep with it on. You then rinse it off with warm water in the morning. Another pro, it has a refreshing, spa-like scent that most Laneige products have.  If you are in need of some hydration, check this product out.

6 | Hand-made Coconut Almond Soap

There is nothing better than some organic, hand-made face/body soap. I raved about this a while ago and how it diminished my acne and I finally have my hands on a new batch. Unfortunately, these soaps are made by my friend and gifted to me but I know that Whole Foods sell natural soaps that are similar to the one I use. They last for a long time and I have been using it every day in Feb.

7 | Trader Joe’s Coffee Bag Brewer

Ok, this stuff is the shiz. I noticed that Trader Joe’s started selling a Coffee Bag Brewer for around $1.50 and I had to get it. You basically pour hot water into the bag, let it seep, and pour the coffee out of the little spout. It makes two cups of delicious coffee! How convenient eh? It is cheaper to buy coffee grounds and brew at home, but this is something you can get once in a while as a lil treat. Can you tell that I love Trader Joe’s? Haha.

8 | Colourpop Super Shock Shadow: Desert

This an affordable, pigmented, creamy transition color that I love to use on a minimal makeup look day. You can build it up or just apply it on its own; such a great color for numerous eye looks! Like the other Colourpop shadows, this one is no different. Awesome quality for a fraction of the price. I would consider this particular shade a staple for make-up lovers. It’s also an easy color to start off with if you are a beginner or a noob (like me).

9| Fitness

This month has been the month of fitness. I stopped circuit training because it was getting way too expensive, so I re-activated my LA Fitness membership. There is something very rewarding about pushing yourself when it comes to fitness. Now that I have a general idea of how to work out properly, especially when I am targeting certain areas of my body, working out is actually kind of fun. I would have NEVER been able to say this last year. I am also lucky enough to have my boyfriend, Sean, who is very knowledgable and helps me write out my workout regimes. Maybe one day I’ll go into detail and explain my fitness goals in a post!

These were my February favorites for this year! Hope you enjoyed this post and please like/comment if we share any favorites or if you have any particular favorites from this past month, I would love to know ❤ See ya’ll soon.

January 2016 Favorites!

Today, I will be doing an overdue January 2016 favorite post. I did one of these last year, promising to do it every single month, and it just didn’t work out haha. I WILL try this year as best as I can because I actually enjoy writing these…Like my last one, these favorites are not focused exclusively on beauty products, they are a life compilation of things I just loved during the month including food, people, books, activities, lifestyle, etc…Here it goes!

  1. The Broad Museum

I wrote a whole blog post regarding my trip to the Broad Museum in Los Angeles. Amazing, unique, and breath-taking pieces all in a pretty small space; my boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this museum and will be going back again soon!

2. Circuit training

Why yes, I’ve been pretty consistent with my workouts in January. I started training at a local gym called “The 12” where they emphasize circuit, timed training. Before this, I knew nothing about exercise and literally just did cardio at the gym. Now, I have this whole new understanding of working out different muscles in my body and am LOVING it. For any work-out noobs or cardio-addicts, I highly suggest circuit training. It helps you build muscle while still getting a lot of cardio in your work out.

3. Cooking

I made it a goal of mine to eat home-cooked meals on weekdays and to eat out during the weekends (max two times each weekend). I have always physically felt better when eating home-cooked meals. I tend to bloat and get indigestion quite easily, especially when I eat out. I also am susceptible to weight gain since I don’t exactly know what the ingredients are in what I’m eating at a restaurant. Sooooo, I’ve actually been planning my meals ahead of time and making sure I eat freshly-cooked meals during the weekdays. On the weekends, I allow myself to eat out at a maximum of two times and the restaurants have to be relatively healthy haha. So far, I feel great! Cooking makes me feel productive and more organized.

4. Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub in Passionfruit & Guava

This item was gifted to me from a co-worker and I LOVE it. It smells so fresh and delicious, it makes my mouth water every time I open it! The scrub is gentle and easy to spread and exfoliate. I use it in a steaming hot bath/shower and evenly spread and scrub it all over my body (a little goes a long way!). This leaves my body smoother than a baby’s bottom. I do this once or twice a week and always look forward to it 🙂 Tree Hut has a wide range of different types of scrubs and this has definitely made me want to try more of their products.

5. Trader Joe’s Mild Pico de Gallo

How have I not had this product until recently?! If you have never tried this, please do. The ingredients are simple and wholesome, no acids or artificial preservatives, just tomatoes, lemon juice, peppers, onions, etc…It tastes fresh and it’s so delicious with veggie chips, eggs, chicken, rice, and basically anything else. I can go through one tub in four days!

6. Laneige BB Cushion

I think I did a review about the Laneige BB Cushion BB cream in an old post and I remember saying that I did like it but it had a major con: it would break me out because of how oily I would get in a few hours. I also explained that this is a dewy BB cream and that it is definitely not mattifying: it’s not made for that. BUT, I fell in love with it in January! It’s so easy to apply, has an SPF of 50+, smells clean and fresh, and surprisingly holds for quite a while. I solved my break out problem by using only the smallest amount on my t-zone (the area where I used to break out a lot) and using my Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder on top. Didn’t have any angry pimples after that-yay!!

7. Jessica Jones on Netflix

Woot! Amazing show by Marvel on Netflix!! I went through this show in a dangerously small amount of time. If you love Daredevil, you will be sucked into Jessica Jones. Another great Marvel show and I really enjoyed Krysten Ritter as Jessica-I really doubted her when I saw the first episode but wow, she did awesome!

8. Learning to Slow Down

My last, but definitely not least favorite from January was actually an action. Another one of my goals for 2016 is to really focus on slowing down a bit. I have always been surrounded by fast-paced environments: my jobs, school, etc…and it really affected my life out of academics and work. I found myself rushing when doing mundane, daily activities or hanging out with friends or eating out with my boyfriend. In January, I really focused on taking my time with things and not being bothered by time and getting things done fast. It’s still a work in progress and will always be but I am so happy that I have been managing well so far! I highly suggest other people to try the same ❤

Welp! This was my January round-up~I do hope to continue these every month and will try sooooo hard to maintain them. Hopefully this was entertaining to some of ya’ll out there… 🙂
