Skincare Favorites | Origins, Kiehl’s, etc…

heya friends!!

Today, I wanted to share some of my skincare favorites that I have been using for quite some time. Most of them are masks because they are one of my favorite products to use. Maybe we share some favorites? xx

OriginsIMG_2668_Fotor_Collage_Fotor.jpgThe infamous Origins Charcoal Mask ($26). This baby is so popular/talked about/hyped up in the beauty world. And it really is a great product. I’ve been using it for almost a year now and it’s one of my favorite charcoal masks. There are many reasons why it’s so great: it’s deep pore penetrating capability, the cool black color, how clean/smooth your face feels, etc…

Kiehl’s

IMG_2666_Fotor_Collage_Fotor.jpgAnother very popular/talked about product! This Creamy Eye Treatment ($29) is exactly what it claims to be: moisturizing, light, and very gentle. I love the soft fragrance and how it sits underneath my eyes. A great treatment for your eyes before bed time, indeed!

IMG_2662_Fotor_Collage_Fotor.jpgI didn’t hear about this product until I actually was suggested it from a person who works at Kiehl’s. This Pore Cleansing Masque ($26) is a phenomenal mask to help minimize pores and soften skin. It contains Amazonian White Clay that naturally acts as a magnet for dirty, clogged pores. My boyfriend is obsessed with this one haha.

Laneige

The Laneige Water Sleeping Mask ($24) is an interesting, unique mask. It’s a very light, dewy, gel-like substance that smells heavenly. You basically apply a thin layer before sleeping and essentially sleep with it on. The next morning, you can just rinse it off and your skin feels super moisturized, supple, and refreshed. I use this once a week!

The Face Shop

This Rice Water Massage Cream ($17) is another special product that I discovered. If you like products that help brighten the appearance of your skin, this is for you! It’s a gentle, luxurious cream that you massage into clean, dry skin. After, you can either lightly rinse or simply wipe off with a soft towel. It melts into a lovely oil so it’s definitely something you pamper with. I do this once every week or so. It also has that signature spa scent that is just so heavenly!

These are the skincare items that I have been using the most lately and I swear by them! If you haven’t tried any of these, please do and if you have, feel free to like/comment ❤

Night Routine 2016

heyaa!

Today, I shall be sharing with you my updated night time routine; not just my beauty/skin care regime but also what I do to prepare myself for bed time 🙂

  1. Fresh Face | The first thing I do after I eat dinner and start getting ready for bed is taking off all my makeup. All the girls out there will agree that this is one of the most satisfying feelings! I use an oil based make up remover with some cotton rounds, followed up with a natural face wash, and then a light pat of the Simple Micellar water just to ensure a fresh, clean face.IMG_2349_Fotor.jpgIMG_2350_Fotor.jpgIMG_2348_Fotor.jpg
  2. Shower | I shower/bathe in the evening since I work at a laboratory and work out during the day so I like to be squeaky clean when it’s time to get into bed. I’ve been using the Matrix Biolage Shampoo and Conditioner set. Smells fresh and moisturizes my hair. For body wash, I enjoy St. Ives Oatmeal and Shea wash; it’s cheap, natural, and helps with dry skin.IMG_2353_Fotor.jpg
  3. Get Comfy | I LOVE getting into my pajamas after a long day. I like wearing loose things for sleep; I never wear anything tight/fitting.
  4. Skin Care | On days when I’ve been wearing makeup for a long period of time or just having a stressful day, I put on a mask: it rotates between Lush’s Mask of Magnaminty, Kiehl’s Rare Earth Clay Mask, or Origin’s Charcoal Mask. But most evenings after I floss, brush my teeth, and gargle some mouthwash (yes, I do all three every single night haha), I like to moisturize my face with some hydrating night time cream. I then delicately apply the Kiehl’s Avocado Under-eye cream and finish off with a thick layer of Carmex lip balm.IMG_2352_Fotor.jpg
  5. Body Care | The weather has been dry in SoCal so I find myself slathering shea butter all over my body before sleepy time. I also like to use the Origins Ginger hand lotion not just for my hands but for my feet as well.
  6. Relaxation | Finally time to hop into bed!! Yes, my favorite time of the day haha. I usually end up watching a show on Netflix, browsing through the internet, or reading a book. I’ve been trying to stay away from electronics at least 30 minutes before I sleep so I’ve been really into Stephen King’s “Doctor Sleep”. It’s kind of a thriller book so it’s probably not the best to read right before sleep, but I love it haha.IMG_2354_Fotor.jpg
  7. Good Night | I always keep a glass of water next to me because I ALWAYS wake up dying of thirst. I also have been keeping my windows open at night since it’s been really hot lately. Sleep is one of my favorite things to do (haha) and it is the biggest reason why/how I got rid of my face acne. Therefore, I do keep sleep as one of my priorities! If you any of you have a specific routine like I do, please share! ❤

How I Cleared My Skin|Winter 2015

Hello fellow bloggers,

Tonight, I will be discussing how I cleared my skin this winter. My skin is NOT consistent and I am constantly having to find different regimes for every season, every year. It really depends on the weather, humidity, pollution, etc..During the summer, my face is oily and acne-prone and during the winter my face turns into a patchy dry/oily mess. Basically all year round I am mostly oily.

Over the past two months, I have been really taking care of my skin and have been seeing noticeable results: less emerging acne, fading of scars, and brightening of skin. Here’s how I did it…

  1. No more strong Starbucks coffee. I hate to admit it, but I used to be the type of person who needed to have a strong Americano from Starbucks every single morning. For all of ya’ll 9-5er’s, you probably know what I mean haha. Little did I know, that the coffee that I was consuming every day was actually affecting how deeply I slept. I would wake up feeling unenergized and like I didn’t sleep a wink. This, evidently, showed through my skin. I would wake up with angry and painful acne sprinkled across my forehead. I stopped going to Starbucks and started brewing my own coffee every morning which put me in control of how strong I wanted it to be. I started sleeping better and my skin showed it. There are some days that I don’t even drink coffee at all!
  1. Make sure ALL makeup is off. I used to be one of those gals who would use make up wipes to clear my skin of makeup after a long wear day. To be honest, those things should NOT be the only things you used to completely take off your makeup. It is best to use some sort of cleansing water or oil to make sure your face does not have a smudge of make up on before you sleep. When you’re sleeping, your skin is repairing itself so you might be unnoticeably clogging your pores when you’re not completely wiping all makeup off. I use a cleansing oil + an all-natural make up remover face wash + a cleansing water/toner. Yes, I do all three EVERY night religiously before I go to bed. It really makes a difference.
  2. Moisturize. I use a bar soap for my face in the morning and evening and it totally strips my face of any oil. That’s great, but make sure to moisturize so your skin doesn’t freak out and start producing even MORE oil. For the day, I like the Simple SPF Day Moisturizer and for the evening, I enjoy the Burt’s Bees Nighttime Cream. I NEVER skip these two steps.
  3. Try switching to simple, organic products. This along with number 1. are probably the main reasons why my skin has cleared up so much. I have stopped using any product that has an ingredient that I cannot pronounce or have never heard of. I started using hand made bar soaps for my face and body, moisturizers with simple and fresh ingredients, and SPF. Most of these items you can find in the “natural” section of Target, CVS, etc… or even Whole Foods, Mother’s, and Lush.
  4. Stop touching your face. Be aware of your surroundings. I didn’t realize how much I touched my face during the day so I mentally trained myself to stop doing it. I am also aware of the phones I use at work. I would break out near my cheeks during the week and I realized it was from not sanitizing work phones before I used them every day. Your hands are teeming with germs from everything you have touched throughout the day. I tend to rub my forehead subconsciously so I really had to force myself to stop doing it haha.
  5. Stick with a regime.  Just because you don’t see results after a few days does not mean you should stop…unless you see yourself having a bad reaction, getting more spots, etc…I did not see results until a week and a half in (which is still pretty fast for most people) and I really kept with my routine (I will list everything below). I did not skip any steps at all, no matter how tired, lazy I was. That shows how dedicated I am to my skin considering how much of a potato I am ha.

Products I have been using:

  • Simple Micellar Cleansing Water
  • Simple SPF Day Moisterizer
  • Organic Olive Oil
  • Burt’s Bees Face Wash: make-up remover and skin brightener
  • Burt’s Bees Nighttime Cream
  • Kiehl’s Undereye Avocado cream
  • Coconut-oil based organic bar soap (hand-made/gifted to me)
  • Goat’s Milk body bar soap (hand-made/gifted to me as well)
  • Kiehl’s Deep Pore Mask (weekly)
  • Mask of Magnaminty from Lush (weekly)
  • Origins GinZing Scrub (weekly)

I used to use way more products than this and it included a lot of products with weird ingredients. I have managed to cut them down as much as I can and have been religiously sticking to the items above for the past two months. The whole point of this post is to help any of you guys who are trying to clear your skin. Obviously this does not work for everybody, it just happened to work for me!

Feel free to comment below if you have tried any of these or suggest any all-natural products. I’m still a noob with trying to find simple, clean face products so I need the help!
