First Impressions: NYX and E.L.F

heya friends!

I purchased these products awhile ago and never really got around to sharing my first impressions on them. Unfortunately, none of these products are my cup of tea so I just wanted to share my opinion if you are considering purchasing them.

| ELF Baked Highlighter | $3

I actually heard that this was a great item so I was surprised by how much I didn’t like it. Maybe it’s just me but I honestly don’t see this highlighter on me very much. It is more pigmented if you try spritzing it with a finishing spray. I just don’t like how rough and difficult it is to get the actual product from the pan. I think this is better for people who like a very natural highlight that barely shows. I like it when the consistency is more creamy and extremely glowy. It is only $3 at Target so I guess it’s worth the price but I would rather spend a little more on another drugstore highlighter.

| ELF Bronze and Blush Duo | $4

This is the palette duo that has shimmer in it. The blush is okay. The bronzer is a no no. I heard the ELF matte bronzer is really good but the shimmery one is not. It is really difficult to blend, splotchy, and has quite a bit of fallout. It’s kind of crumby which is weird lol. I’ve tried a few times to wear this bronzer because I wanted it to work so bad but I’ve finally realized that it just doesn’t blend haha.

| NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick | $6.99

I usually LOVE NYX products. Their matte lip creams, eyeshadows, and powders are one of favorites and I’m always talking about them on my blog. That’s why this lip product really surprised me because I will not be using it at all. Unlike all of their other lippies, this one has a strong chemical smell. It is very pigmented and easy to apply but it is not considered a “suede” finish for me. It claims to have a “velvety soft and matte” finish. It stays extremely sticky on the lips for a long time (at least for me it does). I was waiting for it to become that comfortable suede feeling that I normally enjoy but it was just sticky and uncomfortable. It’s a shame because they have some extremely pretty colors but I just don’t think the formula is very good. I haven’t tried any other colors so maybe the finish is different since sometimes the color changes the formula a little.

| NYX Eyeshadow Base | $6.99

I also bought this because I wanted a more affordable version of the Urban Decay Primer Potion or the Too Faced Shadow Insurance, but this just didn’t work for my oily, hooded eyelids. I have a monolid so I need to make sure my primer helps my eyeshadow and liner stick to my lids. My shadow did not look as good as it does when I use other primers and my liner was not as opaque. I’ve never really used any other drugstore primers but I’m sure there are some great ones; this one just didn’t cut it for me.

I honestly wanted to like all of these products but they just didn’t work for me! Maybe some of you think differently. Hope ya’ll find this a little helpful if you are planning on buying any of these products! ❤
